Summary

Provides for the preservation and protection from injury or desecration of certain indigenous areas and objects of particular significance and provide for the accreditation of heritage protection regimes in force in States and Territories. Repeals the

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984
and makes related savings and transitional provisions; and amends the
Archives Act 1983
,
Freedom of Information Act 1982
and
Hindmarsh Island Bridge Act 1997
in relation to disclosure of confidential indigenous information.
